Bumblebee nest pots

This afternoon we made and installed three bumblebee nest pots in the garden. They are by the hedge in a shady spot, immediately to the left of the gate as you enter and next to the bee border.

They are made from old terracotta pots, waste water pipe, left-over chicken wire, bits of wood and some slate offcuts. Ideally, you use nesting materials from an old mouse nest (we thought about going to a pet shop) but, instead, used some material from the meadow haystacks, which we know to be frequented by mice.
